Monsieur Ernest is located in the middle of a green zone along the canal and the old fortifications (1127) of the city, next to the Key-bridge (1285).
The landscape is so picturesque, that the French artist Pissarro chose this
place for one of his famous paintings. In the Middle Ages, craftsmen worked along the canal as ‘blue-dyers’.
The property of hotel Monsieur Ernest is located on the territory of a former brewery ‘the 3 Keys’, documented as the oldest and largest brewery in Bruges.
Across the Key-bridge, one can admire the medieval chapel of the Minstrels (15 th century).
Market-square and Belfry are only just a stone’s throw away.
