About Monsieur Maurice

Within the oldest ramparts of the medieval city, in a quiet and charming residential area, you will feel most welcome at hotel Monsieur Maurice.

The building overlooks the canal and the beautiful Lionbridge (1626). The hotel is situated in close proximity to the residence of the Dukes of Burgundy.
History tells us that the ‘black-dyers’ operated here, near the canal, when Duke Philip the Good imposed black as the official colour at the court.
The five houses that today compose the hotel Monsieur Maurice are documented on an old map of Marcus Gerards (1576), actually kept at the Gruuthuse Museum.
